Introduction to the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham
Established in 1925, the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham has steadily grown and is now at the forefront of academic development and progress in the field of pharmacy. With the combined intake at the UK and Malaysia campuses, the School is one of the largest Schools of Pharmacy in the UK.
The School made its first international presence at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, offering the Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) program - the first Pharmacy degree to be fully accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (the regulatory body for pharmacy in the UK prior to 2010, now the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)) outside of Europe in 2005. This essentially allows our students direct access to the UK pharmacist job market upon graduation. Our MPharm program remains the longest-running MPharm program in Malaysia and the only program offered in Malaysia that is fully accredited by the GPhC.
In 2010, the School launched the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences program to address the demands of the growing pharmaceutical industry in Malaysia. In 2012, the School of Biomedical Sciences was established and offered the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biomedical Science program.
