Introduction to University of Nottingham Malaysia
The University of Nottingham Malaysia opened in September 2000 and became the first British university to set up a campus both outside of the UK and in Malaysia, earning The University of Nottingham the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2001 and the Queen’s Award for Industry (International Trade) 2006. In 2020, UNM was awarded with a 5-star rating for the quality of its research and innovation, making it among the highest rated international universities in Malaysia in The Malaysia Research Assessment (MyRA), a rating it initially received in 2014.
In September 2005, the Malaysia Campus moved to its own purpose-built site in Semenyih, 30km south of Kuala Lumpur. Designed to reflect University Park Campus in Nottingham, it is a self-contained,vibrant village situated on an attractive and landscaped 125-acre site. We have about 5,500 students and around 600 teaching and administrative staff from 85 countries.

- foundation
UNM foundation programmes are pre-university level programmes designed to enhance the subject basics and learning skills essential for undergraduate study. We run four distinct programmes divided by subject. Successful completion of your chosen foundation programme will allow you to progress directly onto your selected undergraduate degree. UNM foundation programmes provide a solid academic grounding and are tailored to meet the requirements of various disciplines. Gain essential academic skills and knowledge, such as critical thinking, research, and problem-solving. Whether you aspire to pursue a degree in business, engineering, arts, or science, we have a foundation programme that will set you on the right path towards achieving your academic goals.Â
The university foundation programme runs full-time for either two or three semesters.Â
Two-semester programme
This is suitable if you have completed at least 12 years of formal education but need to enhance your skills in order to undertake an undergraduate degree.
Three-semester programme
This is ideal if you have completed a minimum of 11 years of formal education.Â
After you have successfully completed the foundation programme you can go on to study one of our undergraduate degree programmes.

Masters and PhD courses are available across applied psychology, biosciences, business, computer science, economics, education, English, environmental monitoring, engineering, international communications, international relations, international studies, law, modern languages, nutrition, plant technology and psychology.
